This is an aspect pattern is known by several different names: Arrowhead, Thor's Hammer, or God's Fist. It packs quite a punch with sharply focused intention, aggression or assertiveness.
It consists of two planets in square aspect (90°) and both planets are in an sesqui-quadrate aspect (135°) to a third planet at the apex, forming a triangle shape. The energy of this aspect pattern is similar to a T-square, since it has stressful, dynamic energy. The sesqui-quadrate aspects are cousins in the square family of aspects, in this case based on dividing the circle into 8 segments. It is conflict-oriented and motivating like the square, but the sesqui-quadrate tends to be sharper, thornier or more complex. These two aspects together - square and sesqui-quadrate - make this a powerful, driving force.
The energy often originates in the tension of the two squared planets, which then finds an outlet or target through the third (apex) planet. This means the apex planet must find a creative way to resolve the conflict of the square, or else it might vent that tension recklessly or destructively. This energy flow reflects the image of an Arrowhead in which the apex is used to pierce through obstacles that frustrate the square planets.
On the other hand, the energy flow might instead originate in the apex planet, which then wields the power and dynamic stress of the square planets. The apex planet guides, steers or directs the energy and force of the square planets. It's a bit like holding a live grenade – what do you do with it?? Do you throw it in any direction that will keep you safe, no matter the consequences? Or do you look for a safe or constructive direction to move that energy? In other words, you need patience and discipline to find a way to use it constructively and creatively, or the energy could become destructive. This image is more like Thor's hammer or a powerful fist – God's Fist.
By cultivating support for the energy of the apex planet, it is possible to give it strength and discipline to work constructively and creatively with the square planets. If other planets form a trine or sextile aspect to the apex planet, or if the apex planet is well dignified, this can help it express itself in a positive, constructive way.
